About VotePA

Working to Protect YOUR Right to a Fair VOTE!

Welcome to VotePA, a state-wide non-partisan alliance of groups and individuals fighting for all voting rights and election integrity in Pennsylvania. We were formed in early 2005 to work for fair, accurate, and accessible elections for all in the Keystone State.

Because of the Help America Vote Act, Pennsylvania rushed to make sure that every county had new a voting system by 2006. Pennsylvania's electronic voting machines have been hailed by company salespeople and officials as "safe, secure, and easy" -- BUT ARE THEY??

  • Pennsylvania is one of the last states to have no law requiring the use of voter-verified paper ballots in elections.
  • Paperless electronic voting machines still used in 51 of our most populous counties won't let voters verify that your vote was recorded as you intended. Without a voter-verified paper ballot, there's no way to do a meaningful audit or recount. If your vote gets lost, it's gone forever.
  • Electronic voting machines have already lost thousands of votes, in numerous Pennsylvania counties.
  • Many areas of PA have reported inadequate machines, not enough ballots, voter intimidation and other problems in past elections.
  • In past elections, more incidents were reported to the Election Incident Reporting Service from Pennsylvania than any other state except Florida!

What do we do?

We learn about voting and voting systems, educate others, hold public events, hold house parties, serve as pollworkers, serve as pollwatchers, call and write our elected officials, write to our newspapers, lobby for changes in the laws to improve voting, blog, speak out, and most importantly -- WE VOTE.
